As early as in 1939, Storsätra Fjällhotell opened its doors to its first guests. Back then, it was the Grövelsjö Mountains, the skiing, the hiking trails, the fresh air, the good food, and the cozy environment that attracted visitors. And it still does today! Whether you come as a conference attendee or a vacation guest, we are ready to make your stay a fantastic experience.
Dalarna's first mountain hotel
That Storsätra Fjällhotell would one day have 35 rooms, a relaxation area, and space for 50 conference guests was something Margit Jonsson could never have imagined when she opened Dalarna's first mountain hotel in 1939. With only a few rooms and very basic standards, she welcomed her guests to the magnificent mountain world.
A few years later, Margit and her brother Hans began to develop the hotel, and in the 1950s, Ralph Erskine, a loyal guest, designed the expansion of the restaurant and lounge area.
In 1972, the siblings retired, but new owners have continued the modernization, including the construction of the popular relaxation area.

Today, Storsätra Fjällhotell is run with passion and care by Malin and Andreas Lönnmo. With a deep love for the mountain world and a strong vision for the future, they have taken over the baton and continue to develop the hotel with the same warmth and dedication as previous owners.
Malin and Andreas have extensive experience in the hotel and restaurant industry, and their shared goal is to create a place where guests feel at home. Under their leadership, Storsätra Fjällhotell has continued to be a safe haven for both new and returning visitors. With a focus on quality, personal service, and a genuine love for nature, they strive to make every stay a memorable experience.
