The Grövelsjö Mountains and surrounding hiking areas such as Femundsmarka and Rogen are known for their inviting trails, both marked and unmarked. The Grövelsjö area is particularly popular due to its accessibility and the availability of accommodation and food. Here, Storsätra Fjällhotell continuously presents our best hiking tips, with links to Google Maps for easy navigation.

Digerbäcken - Easy

Character: Easy hike, mostly over open mountain terrain, with views of Grövelsjön.

Length: About 5 km

Don't miss: Beautiful stream ravine with babbling water

Description

At the service building, at the bottom of Sjöstugan's parking lot, turn left towards the suspension bridge over Grövlan. Then follow Linnéstigen towards Sylen. After about 400 meters, turn right at the wooden bench and follow the trail towards Digerbäcken. Then walk along the babbling stream until the trail joins Linnéstigen again. Turn left and follow Linnéstigen back to the start.

Sylen – Easy

Character: Boat trip across Grövelsjön. Then easy hiking, which can be rocky in places, up and down Sylen

Length/elevation: About 9 km/300 m

Don't miss: The wreck of a German bomber from World War II visible during the boat trip

Description

Boat from Sjöstugen. From the dock at Sylen, follow the gravel road to the sign towards Grövelsjön. Then follow the red-marked trail. A shorter, partly steep and rocky section, then easy hiking. When you pass the tree line, you get a fantastic view of the valley and the outlet of Grövelsjön. The last part follows Linnéstigen back to Sjöstugan.

Båthusberget – Intermediate/Difficult

Character: Hike with significant elevation gain in hilly terrain.

Length: About 8.5 km

Don't miss: Beautiful nature and outstanding views of Norwegian mountains and lakes.

Description

About 20 km by car towards Elgå. Park the car on the left side of the road. Follow the trail between two tarns. After the stream, take the trail to the right, initially with a steep climb. At the top, follow the ridge eastwards until you meet the trail again. Follow the trail down and back to the parking lot.
