In Harmony with the Mountains and Their Invaluable Nature
In the heart of Grövelsjön’s magnificent mountain landscape, the land carries stories of food, survival, and community that stretch far back in time. For generations, people have gathered herbs, berries, and mushrooms here, cooking nourishing meals over an open fire — a tradition that connects humans and nature in a way that is both practical and deeply rooted in respect for the rhythms and resources of the mountains.
At Grövelsjön, these stories and flavors still come together today. Storsätra Fjällhotell operates in a unique environment where nature’s treasures must be managed carefully and with reverence, so that future generations can also enjoy the gifts of the mountains. Every part of our work is guided by deep care for the delicate ecosystem and respect for those who lived here before us.
Cooking over an open fire in the mountains is not only a practical solution but also a symbol of a life in harmony with nature — a reminder that we can work with the landscape instead of depleting it. Storsätra Fjällhotell hopes to inspire more people to discover the mountain’s rich culinary traditions while protecting the place that gives us so much in return.
After all, there is something truly luxurious about gathering food directly from nature, preparing it under the open sky, and experiencing the pure, authentic flavors of local ingredients.
